Kingdom Songs
by Cthulhu ini've been out for a while now and, while i still find that those kingdom hall tunes rear their little heads from time to time in my mind, i have found that i am beginning to forget some of the words to many of them.
how long did it take you to start breaking free from the bonds that those songs can have on the memory?.

Any screeching bird like Whitney Housten,Mariah Carey,That bird that did the titanic theme,Leona Lewis, and all of that ilk. Terrible stuff and garaunteed to have the radio changed. Fortunately I don't listen to that kind of station too often.

I agree,Gabriel did some stunning peices of music post Genesis......Here comes the Flood from gabriel 1 springs to mind......however this is a Genesis thread and one track I re discovered when I found The Lamb in a charity shop.....I kid you not, perfect condition vinyl for just £2.....was Counting out Time. What a great track.
Rock on good people.

The Peter Gabriel era was by far the better, although Trick of the Tail is a great album. I do believe they lost a lot of quirkiness when Peter left.
Selling England by the Pound is my favourite album with the guitar solo on Firth of Fourth making the hairs on my neck stand up!! The Lamb is a great album also.
Post Gabriel Genesis went downhill after the Duke album.

Going to California, Since I've been loving you, Tangerine, Immigrant song.
My personal favourite album is Led Zep 3,very atmospheric. Stairway is excellent but overrated and played to death all the time. Saw them in 1979 at Knebworth, well when I say I saw them, they were about 3 miles away on a stage looking like stick men.......but boy....we could hear them!!!

Tangerine Dream play the Devil's Music
by HappyGuy ini guess one of the things that i hold most against the senile octagenarians who run the wtbts and tell us things like "rock music is from satan" is how much music i either missed out on or felt guilty about listening to.
i love music.
everyone who knows me can tell when i am not listening to enough music.

I've been exploring some of the music I missed out on in the early 70's. I listen to a radio show on aThursday night......couldn't do that back in the day,lol.................and the DJ plays a lost album, one that didn't make an impact like 'Dark Side of the Moon' or 'Machine Head',and there is some great sound sout there.
Anyone remember groups like T2, Paladin, Fuzzy Duck, May Blitz, Mighty Baby. Not names that roll off the tongue, but mighty fine musically!!!!
Anybody know any more???

You little tinker!!!!
I saw them headline the heavy metal barn dance at Stafford bingley hall, which was just a glorified cattle shed really. Other bands on the bill, remember these? Vardis,Angelwitch,Girlschool,Saxon and Motorhead. It was LOUD. I couldn't hear my bike engine on the way home!!
